Cloth Diapering

So I decided to give cloth diapering a shot, and everyone was curious to see how I did. To be honest, I think everyone thought I was crazy and I would never last. I wasn't so sure how it would go, but I wanted to give it a shot. A. Because I'm cheap and diapers are EXPENSIVE! B. It's kinda gross to think about a landfill filled with piles and piles of poopy diapers, wrapped in plastic no less. C. Cloth diapers are just so darn cute! So her first month, we traveled quite a bit and we went through diapers like crazy, so we stuck with disposables (Pampers actually b/c they are the best!). I only bought a handful of cloth diapers until I decided if I liked it. So starting in her second month, I gave them a try. And...I love it! She is so stinkin' cute in them. They have made major improvements in them these days, so they are really easy to use. I have the traditional prefold diapers with covers. I have snappies for the traditional prefolds instead of pins, which are way easier to use. I also have a few BumGenius diapers. They are great! They are one-size, that's right, they fit from 7 lbs to 35 lbs., and all you have to do is stuff the liner in the pocket and velco it on. The prefolds with covers are certainly the cheapest way to go, but when you figure that you can use one BumGenius until you potty train, $19 bucks ain't so bad! When we are home, I really only use the cloth diapers. Well ok...I cheat at night. At night I have been using a disposable since it absorbs better, and she is sleeping through the night. I'm not crazy enough to mess with that! But overall, I am a believer! And...GASP...we have even been using cloth wipes. Plus, I feel great about doing something for the environment. You know since it's cool to be green these days. For those of you interested, I have posted my favorite websites and cloth diapering products.
