Visit to the Doctor

So, it has taken me a while to update, but we had our first doctor's appointment last week, and it went great! We really like our OB group, and they made us feel really comfortable. The next day we had an ultrasound. It was the neatest thing to see that heartbeat. I think we were both just awestruck and speechless watching it. I couldn't believe it was so fast. We don't go back to the doctor until the end of October, but everything has been going great so far. I've been feeling great, thank goodness! Only a little queasiness every now and then. I already have a little belly though! I think I might be having a 15 lb baby at the rate I'm going! We have had a busy and emotional week. It made it hard to be so far away from home, but I am reminded what an amazing family we have here in California and in Georgia. With the passing of Bev, we have just been reminded how precious life is and really how important family is. She will be missed by everyone, but she is such an inspiration, and I know she has touched all of us. Even being so far from most of our family, she has reminded us that nothing is more important than family, and I know how much our little one will be loved and he or she ;) will be blessed with an amazing family. We love all of you and can't wait to see everyone!

Our new addition!!!

Well, we have finally settled in our new home in California. Brett is getting comfortable at his new station (a busy, busy station I might add), and he is enjoying every second. Well, maybe not scrubbing the boats, but most of every second! I found a job at an architecture/engineering firm in San Rafael doing administrative/accounting work. It is a really great place to work with really nice people, but I especially enjoy the accounting work. However, soon I will have new, more important work to do! Brett and I are expecting our first little one in April 2008! We are very excited, but we have been a little hestitant to share our wonderful news due to our experience earlier in the year. Everything has gone great so far, so we are feeling a lot more relaxed about the pregnancy (well, I guess as relaxed as you can be when you are pregnant and there are a million things to worry your mind with!). I have been feeling the wonderful symptoms of pregnancy, but I must say I think I have it better than most! With horror stories of my Mom's pregnancies, I feared the worst, but thus far it has certainly been bearable! Brett is beyond excited about the baby and has already decided what the baby's room will be like and that he's sure it's a boy! While he may be hoping for a boy, I know we will both be happy with a healthy baby no matter the sex. Our first OB visit will be Monday, so we will know a lot more then. We actually chose to go to UCSF's Women's Center for our OB, so I will be delivering in the city (San Fran). They are a teaching hospital with a wonderful reputation. They are the #7 hospital in the nation and very mom-friendly. We will certainly keep everyone updated, and we'll post lots of pictures as my belly grows.
